چکیده

Abstract Background Community acquired urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) are among the most common bacterial diagnosed in community health practice resulting high rates of morbidity and economic costs associated with its treatment. CAUTIs usually treated empirically. Geographical variations etiologic agents their antibiotic sensitivity patterns common. Knowledge resistance trends is important for improving evidence-based recommendations empirical treatment UTIs. Adequate can cause decrease unnecessary hospital stays, cost, side effects as well reducing antimicrobial spread. Aim Work To determine implicated uropathogens community-acquired UTIs respective pattern to improve efficacy this infection. Patients Methods This a cross-sectional descriptive study conducted from November 2018 2019 at main Microbiology Lab Clinical Pathology Department, Ain Shams University Hospitals. Samples were received patients attending different outpatient clinics Hospitals having UTI symptoms whose urine samples showed significant growth (≥105 CFU/mL) pyuria (more than 8–10 pus cells by microscopic analysis) nitrite leukocyte esterase positive chemical analysis strip. Results A total 1600 who fulfilled our inclusion criteria sampled. Of these, 1058 had that while about 34% contaminated excluded . samples, 764 (72.21%) females 294 (27.79%) males female male ratio 2.6:1. Escherichia coli was found dominant bacteria prevalence rate 24.4% followed Klebsiella pneumoniae (13.8%). Tetracycline resistant 929 (95.4%) Ampicillin, Tazobactam-piperacillin, Ampicillin- sulbactam 90.1%, 81.7% 77.7% respectively; however, sensitive antibiotics against all Carbapenems (Ertapenem 72.9% fol Imipenem 66.5% Meropenem 66.4%) Nitrofurantoin Amikacin showing 64.3% 58.01% respectively However, For gram uropathogens, Linezolid highest 84% isolates. Conclusion The present reveals familiar respect species involved infections, however considerable empirically prescribed antibiotics.

Bacterial Etiology and Antibiotic Resistance Profile of Community-Acquired Urinary Tract Infections in a Cameroonian City

Introduction. Community-acquired urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) are usually treated empirically. Geographical variations in etiologic agents and their antibiotic sensitivity patterns are common. Knowledge of antibiotic resistance trends is important for improving evidence-based recommendations for empirical treatment of UTIs. Our aim was to determine the major bacterial etiologies of CAUTIs ...

Community-Acquired Urinary Tract Infections in a Rural Area: Predominant Uropathogens, and their Antimicrobial Resistance

Introduction: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are among the most common bacterial infections and frequently recurring problems encountered by clinicians in community practice. The approach to these infections remains a difficult and sometimes controversial issue, especially in asymptomatic and symptomatic bacteruria. The objectives of this study were to determine the incidence of community acqu...

Antimicrobial resistance among uropathogens that cause community-acquired urinary tract infections in women: a nationwide analysis.

Current recommendations for empirical therapy for community-acquired urinary tract infection (UTI) in women hinge on knowledge of antimicrobial susceptibility patterns in the geographic region of the practitioner. We conducted a survey of antimicrobial susceptibilities of 103,223 isolates recovered from urine samples that were obtained in 1998 from female outpatients nationally and within 9 geo...

Antimicrobial resistance among uropathogens that cause community-acquired urinary tract infections in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

BACKGROUND Urinary tract pathogens obtained from patients in Madagascar are becoming increasingly resistant to commonly used antibiotics that are readily available at a low price. This poses a real problem for the treatment of community-acquired urinary tract infections (UTIs) in Madagascar. OBJECTIVES To obtain data on the pathogens responsible for community-acquired UTIs in Antananarivo and...

Antibiotic resistance patterns of pediatric community-acquired urinary infections.

Knowledge about antimicrobial resistance patterns of the etiological agents of urinary tract infections (UTIs) is essential for appropriate therapy. Urinary isolates from symptomatic UTI cases attended at Santa Casa University Hospital of São Paulo from August 1986 to December 1989 and August 2004 to December 2005 were identified by conventional methods. Antimicrobial resistance testing was per...
